Deborah Conway: Friday July 6th 2001

A grey wintry day in our nations capitol but in my world the light is blinding. Dear readers I didn’t forget all my words, fall over and show my underwear; we opened last night and it was WONDERFUL. The audience laughed, cheered, clapped, wept and stomped for more. As I predicted in an earlier posting, a gruelling tech run turns an opening night into a walk in the park. And not an industrial estate either, a lovely walk full of dappled sunlight, sparkling brooks and swaying elms.

I ditched my inner ear monitors during yesterday's dress rehearsal, along with the attendant battery pack, and never looked back. The costumes are truly glorious, I feel like Jackie O. Even my shoe nazi dresser relented and put me in a pair of flats for my “ironing” scene. Life is beautiful. Everyone who wasn’t talking to each other yesterday was hugging last night. Darling, I love the theatre darling!

Have a great day you guys.
